What use do you think the Celtic druids gave to truffles and why? Here we tell you a little of what we have been reading.

THE druids and their passion for truffles

As early as the 4th century B.C., these ancient priests venerated truffles. The Druids of the Celtic lands of Wales, Ireland and Scotland used them in the elaboration of their potions and in their rituals. These druids, fascinated by the fact that truffles came from inside a magic circle of burnt earth between the roots of their sacred trees, made this fungus their essential ingredient, as they attributed to it everything from healing virtues to magical powers.
